A Holistic Approach

To Therapy

Healing From The Inside Out

Using a biopsychosocial-spiritual model of care, my services are trauma-informed and prioritize the cultivation of trust and clear communication. Empathic understanding and an unconditional positive regard for those I assist are at the forefront of every interaction.

Drawing from modern-day, Western science in combination with ancient, Eastern principles, I help people reclaim their authenticity in order to live more balanced and resilient lives. A variety of yoga styles are incorporated into my workshops, self-care circles, and 1:1 therapy sessions. Within each of these therapeutic formats, components such as physical postures, breathwork, meditation, visualizations and more, are adapted to meet client needs. Psychoeducation on the science behind the human body's condition is also used to enhance awareness.

Interoception and neuroplasticity set the foundation for the therapy I offer as research shows that well-being can improve by learning how to accurately detect, evaluate, and respond to internal signals. In aiding with the development of body-based, self-regulation techniques, I guide clients in connecting to and managing their physiological states. It is during this journey that new neural pathways are created, facilitating the adoption of healthy coping strategies as a natural part of everyday life.

More About Me

My personal relationship with yoga began in 2003, during a time when its physical aspect was all that was of interest to me. Although I appreciated the mental health benefits it brought, for many years my main motivation for attending classes was to get exercise.

In 2017, my perception of yoga expanded while on a trip to India for an Ashtanga retreat. It was here that I discovered the profound impact of conscious breathing. This was when I started to become aware of how my breath and body could work together. Encouraged further by research that validated my observations, I made the decision to pursue formal yoga training, leading me to where I am today as a certified Yoga Therapist.

My passion for empowering others is fueled by my own journey of navigating an autoimmune condition, coupled with managing lifelong mental health symptoms arising from adverse childhood events. Despite the hardship that came from these challenges, I feel fortunate that I get to share the scientific explanations and body-based techniques that changed my life, with those I have the privilege of working with. Witnessing the progress of my clients keeps me inspired and continues to remind me of the importance of my role as a therapist.

I am grateful for the opportunities that have enabled me to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in psychology, a C-IAYT Yoga Therapy diploma, and a registered 240-Hour Yoga Teacher Training certification. Offering services as a therapeutic yoga practitioner since 2021, my expertise fuses my education and a previous career in health-centred roles, with therapy-based practical skills in assisting with mental and physical health, and trauma recovery.

When I am not working, I enjoy connecting with life's simple pleasures—something I cherish the most about how yoga has influenced my growth. Exploring different cultures, and immersing myself in nature alongside my dog and loved ones, are a couple of my favourite ways to do this.
